Another pleasant excursion especially in the spring / summer is a trip to the Venice Lido, a long thin island about 11Km. between the lagoon and the Adriatic Sea and connected to the city and the mainland only by steamboat and ferry for cars.
Off the boat you are in Piazzale Santa Maria Elisabetta from where, on to the Gran Viale you get to the beaches where you can see the typical "huts", large cabins with curtain added to the structure carrying the colors of its plant in to which they belong.
Following the promenade Marconi you can see the Palazzo del Cinema, where every year is held the International Film Festival, Palazzo del Casino, the Excelsior Palace Hotel one of the famous hotels on the island.
For lovers of cycling, the Lido you can rent a bike and follow the cycle path of "sea walls", Istrian stone embankments to defend the coast from storm surges, and get up to Alberoni through the picturesque village of Malamocco.

If you are not too tired, arrived in the Alberoni to the Faro Rocchetta, with the ferry you can reach the island of Pellestrina, narrow strip of land at the southern end of the Venice Lagoon, includes three villages: San Pietro in Volta , Portosecco and Pellestrina. Among the places of interest is the church of St. Anthony, the Santa Maria church and the church of the Apparition of the Saints.

As an alternative to cycling, from the Lido you can take the 11 bus to Piazzale Santa Maria Elisabetta. This bus after crossing the island, will be boarded a ferry boat to the island of Pellestrina. Returning to our B&B in Marghera.

Altra escursione piacevole soprattutto nella stagione primavera/estate è una gita al Lido di Venezia, sottile isola lunga circa 11Km. tra laguna e Mar Adriatico e collegata alla città e alla terraferma solo da vaporetti e ferry-boat per le auto. Scesi dal vaporetto ci si trova in P.le Santa Maria Elisabetta da dove, proseguendo per il Gran Viale si arriva alle spiagge dove si possono vedere le tipiche "capanne", grandi cabine con tenda aggiunta alla struttura che portano i colori caratteristici dello stabilimento a cui appartengono. Seguendo il Lungomare Marconi si possono vedere il Palazzo del Cinema, dove ogni anno si svolge la Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica, il Palazzo del Casinò e l'Excelsior Palace Hotel uno dei famosi alberghi dell'isola. Per gli amanti delle due ruote, al Lido si possono noleggiare le biciclette e percorrere la pista ciclopedonale dei "murazzi", argini in pietra d'Istria a difesa del litorale dalle mareggiate, e arrivare fino agli Alberoni attraversando il pittoresco Borgo di Malamocco. Se non siete troppo stanchi, arrivati agli Alberoni verso il Faro Rocchetta, con il ferry-boat si può arrivare all'isola di Pellestrina, stretta striscia di terra nella parte più meridionale della Laguna di Venezia, comprende tre centri abitati: San Pietro in Volta, Portosecco e Pellestrina. Tra i luoghi di interesse la chiesa di Sant'Antonio, la chiesa di Santa Maria dell'Apparizione e la chiesa degli Ognissanti. In alternativa alla bicicletta, dal Lido si può prendere l’autobus linea 11 in Piazzale Santa Maria Elisabetta. Questo autobus dopo aver attraversato tutta l’isola, verrà imbarcato su un Ferry Boat in direzione dell’isola di Pellestrina. Ritornando al nostro B&B a Marghera.
